The Montezuma Waterfalls are a great way to cool off on a hot day !
The entrance to the Waterfalls are free and we recommend you park in the lot just by the entrance to the waterfalls. The older gentlemen will charge you 1000 colones ($ 2-) to watch your vehicle. Proper foot wear is a highly recommended. The short 10 minute walk to the waterfall consists of dirt, rock, shallow river & varied terrain that is not so difficult, but does require a moderate level of conditioning in a couple of spots. Once you cross the river look uphill for the footpath above the creek. Although unmarked, it is relatively easy to spot & will make your walk much faster and more enjoyable. We recommend you bring a towel & snack if you'd like to hangout for a while swimming & sun bathing on the rocks around the waterfall pool. Please do not jump off of the cliffs and take care of your personal property. After the waterfalls, may we suggest a snack across the street o the way into town at Playa Los Artistas Restaurant or souvenir shopping in downtown Montezuma.
