Sport & deep sea fishing in the area is easily arranged for rates starting at $ 65/hour for your own private typical "lancha" style Boat & Captain. Day trips leave from Mal Pais fishing village 10-15 minutes south of Casas Pura Vida, at the end of the road in Mal Pais. Common to these waters are Mahi Mahi (up to 30 lbs), Greater Amberjack (up to 40 lbs), Sailfish (common up to 7 ft) Wahoo (typically 20-30 lbs, but may reach over 100) Red Snapper (up to 20 lbs), Rooster fish (3-100 lbs), Yellow fin Tuna (up to 6' & 400 lbs) ! Please inquire for more information & we will be happy to set you up with a knowledgeable local fisherman/boat Captain who provides all the gear & will fillet your catch right there on the dock upon returning to port. Also, each home here at Casas Pura Vida has a BBQ to grill your fresh catch. Sport fishing or boat tours run $ 65-/hour & up (3 hour minimum) on 19 ft & 25 ft "pangas". Sport Fishing Mal Pais rates, offering a 22' 2001 Sea Fox center console with 200hp Evinrude. The tour is the only of it's kind in the area & goes about 10 miles off shore. Cost is $ 450-/half day or $ 700-/full day. Sport Fishing Montezuma offers several packages: Sunrise (6:30 - 9:30 am)starting at $ 300-, Half day tours (8am -1 pm) $ 600-, Full day tours (8am -4pm) $ 800-, and Sunset tours (3 pm -6pm) $ 280-.
